A self-taught artist, Dr. Hagood has been painting since childhood.
Painting in a distinctive impressionistic style, Dr. Hagood uses a palette of vivid color with brush and palette knife to create works rife with movement and light. His bold and deliberate brushstrokes evoke a sense of energy, with occasional soft edges to present a resting place for the eyes. His paintings have a sense of timelessness in nature, as if he has captured the very moment nature has reached the pinnacle of its beauty. Dr. Hagood’s sharp eye for beauty, combined with artistic talent and rock-steady hand, has proved an ideal crossover to his profession in cosmetic dentistry.
Dr. Hagood has been influenced most recently by internationally acclaimed artist, Frits Van Eeden, and local artists Sheila Lougheed and Suze Lavender, implementing more abstract applications and acrylics to some of his latest works.
"My artistic mission,” says Hagood “is to share my passion of the beauty of nature through color-rich impressions of the very nature that inspires me.”
